Hi!

My name is Elle. I am 11 years old and I wrote the children's book The Youngest Lobsterman. I love the ocean and all animals. I'm hoping to be a future Veterinarian and of course, an author. I come from a lobstering family, my great grandfather, grandfather, dad, cousin and brother are all lobstermen! I love going out on the boat with them sometimes and spending the day being a lobsterwoman! I live in Nottingham, NH with my mom, dad, brother -Wesley and our 3 dogs, 3 cats and 2 rats! I love Science, Reading and Writing and spending time with my family and friends, especially doing anything outdoors. I play softball and volleyball and love riding horses as well.

My Story

When I was 10 years old, I decided to write a story about my younger brother, Wesley, going lobstering. He had just gotten his own lobster license for Christmas, and I was inspired by how hard he worked at such a young age.

I told my mom that I wanted to publish my story, but we didn’t have an illustrator, and no one in my family was very artistic. My mom suggested I ask our neighbor, Karen, who loved to draw and paint. I went over to ask her, and she excitedly agreed to help!

Writing a story was a lot harder than I expected. I had to review, edit, read it out loud, and change my words many times before it felt just right. I also got to work with Karen on ideas for the illustrations and watch the pictures come to life along the way.

Creating this book was so much fun, and it made me excited to write even more stories in the future.

My biggest goal is for kids to read this book and learn that hard work isn’t just for grown-ups. No matter your age, you can follow your dreams if you believe in yourself and keep working hard.

I hope you enjoy my book, and thank you so much for all your support!
